R&S successfully validate 5G NR Mobile Phone Signaling Testing with Huawei Balong 5000
Huawei technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Huawei) and Rohde & Schwarz (hereinafter referred to as R&S) worked together to make a 5G NR smartphone first signaling call with their years of experience in the field of mobile communications.
January 31, 2019, Beijing —Huawei and R&S made a 5G NR sub-6GHz signaling call at the Huawei Communications Laboratory. The test setup consists of R&S?CMW500, 5G NR signaling tester R&S?CMX500 and Huawei's 5G chipset platform Balong 5000, which made the Non-Stand Alone (NSA) call of 5G sub-6GHz (FR1) frequency bands. The success of this signaling call means a huge step forward toward 5G device testing and validation for both companies. The test solution based on CMX500 and CMW500 is a newest full-featured test system for 5G and 2G/3G/4G communications. Balong 5000 is the world's first multi-mode commercial chipset to support 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G connections in 3GPP standards. It supports all of 5G frequency bands, including sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave (mmWave). As the world's first chipset to support both standalone (SA) and NSA network architectures, Balong 5000 can be used to provide a complete 5G solution.

"We are pleased that our joint testing plan with R&S came to a successful conclusion in just over a week after the launch of Balong 5000 on January 24," said Wei Ai, Fellow of Huawei. "This represents a new milestone in the evolution of the 5G industry chain. As a highly mature 5G multi-mode chipset, Balong 5000 is expected to give a boost to the future growth of the 5G industry. We are looking forward to working even more closely with R&S on 5G.
"We are glad to made this 5G NR signaling call with the support of Huawei and its Balong chipset," said Anton Messmer, Vice President of Wireless Communication Testing at R&S. "We have maintained a close partnership Huawei since the era of 4G. We have successfully demonstrated 1.2 Gbps LTE-A-Pro downlink throughput using R&S?CMW500 and Kirin 970 and 1.6 Gbps LTE-A-Pro downlink throughput using Balong 765 (4.5G chipset platform) We will continue to strengthen our cooperation, which will hopefully help Huawei chipsets to even greater successes in the 5G era."
